Day 30 : A Life of Remembrance

May 30, 2023

I will remember the Lord's works; yes, I will remember Your ancient wonders.  I will reflect on all you have done and meditate on your actions.       - Psalm 77:11-12

Throughout the Old Testament, we see the patriarchs of old building altars to mark events, seasons and occasions in their walk with the Father.  We see the Lord, Himself, establishing covenants and promises and then marking them with signs of remembrance, like the rainbow being evidence the Lord will never again flood the earth or the stars in the sky being a sign to Abraham that he will one day be a great nation.  Remembrance is a reminder of places we have been, or places we are going, with the Lord.  At the end of Exodus 16, the Lord has the children of Israel preserve a portion of manna for future generations so that "they may see the bread I fed you in the wilderness when I brought you out of the land of Egypt" (verse 32).  Remembrance is a sign for future generations to see the faithfulness of God to those who have gone before them.  The Word even says that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony ( Revelation 12:11).   Remembrance is a weapon that we use to overcome.

Challenge:  Tell yourself your own testimony today.  Walk through those places of remembrance with the Father and be reminded of who He is to you, and even all that you have accomplished together.

Additional Scripture:

I have been young and now I am old, yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread.     - Psalm 37:25

And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”     - Luke 22:19

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.     - John 14:26

Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you.     - 2 Peter 1:12
